ShuttleKnit
When it comes to keeping heritage and culture knitted together, Emma Connors, CEO of Shuttleknit, tells the story of a 25-year-long generational craft led by Traveller women.
“Three generations of Traveller women are working their craft — grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters — with a focus on knitwear. Everything from hats and scarves to homeware collections and embroidered cushions. It’s around trying to hold and keep heritage, culture, through Traveller craft and enterprise,” she explains.
She adds, “The women hope their daughters, now around ten, will join in the future, keeping the craft alive because young Traveller women love fashion and design.”
