In Our Words 📝

Last Thursday was a truly special day for Shuttleknit as we attended and spoke at the “In Our Words” SICAP showcase in Athlone.  For the first time, Biddy Connors took to the stage representing Shuttleknit - a proud and powerful moment for her. Seeing Biddy share her story and ShuttleKnit's business journey so far was a reminder of just how far we’ve come - from knitters to creative businesswomen shaping our own future.

Our Community CEO Emma Connors spoke about Shuttleknit’s bold ambition:
- building Ireland’s first Traveller-led heritage craft brand,
- developing T(inc.), our creative entrepreneurship programme for Traveller women, and
- positioning Shuttleknit as a model for sustainable, inclusive enterprise grounded in culture and community.

We’re deeply grateful for the continued support of @countywicklowpartnership and @wicklowcountycouncil who believe in our vision and have become real strategic allies.
A huge thank-you to the organisers of SICAP and to @jerrybuttimer Minister of State for Community Development and Charities for recognising the importance of community-led enterprise and inclusion.
Including Traveller women in national conversations about business and social enterprise matters and this event showed what’s possible when those voices are heard.
