JOB TITLE: Temporary Production Staff Member

Contract Type: Temporary

Hours: Part-time, 14 hours

Location: Onsite
at Shuttle Knit, Wicklow (occasional travel to events,
markets, or meetings) Reports to: Supervisor and/or General
Manager of ShuttleKnit

This position
is funded by the POBAL Community Services
Programme and the Department of Rural
and Community Development.

About ShuttleKnit

Shuttleknit is a long-standing, Traveller-rooted creative social
enterprise based in Wicklow. For over
two decades, we have supported Traveller women to create high-quality,
handcrafted knitwear, homeware, and embroidery — combining tradition, culture, and craftsmanship with modern design and enterprise.

At our heart is
a commitment to creativity,
inclusion, and sustainability. We blend social purpose with commercial ambition, producing beautiful products while also creating training, income, and
visibility for women who are often excluded from the workforce. Every item we
make carries the richness of
Traveller heritage and the resilience of the women behind it.

Shuttleknit is
now entering a bold new chapter. We are evolving into a more visible,
values-led Indigenous Irish brand — one that centres Traveller culture,
champions women’s enterprise, and actively builds sustainability into
everything we do. This new phase includes not just traditional making roles, but active
involvement in the business side of our work — from sales and marketing
to events, operations, and strategic leadership.

and leadership roles within

About the Role

This is a
practical, operations and production focused role for someone who is looking to
gain skills around the production/making of knitwear and embroidery in a social
enterprise environment.  This is perfect
for someone who is motivated and wants to learn new skills, enjoys working with
others to set goals, assign outcomes and get things done.  An appreciation and deep understanding of
Traveller culture and trust-building skills are very important as it is
critical to succeed in this role by building a strong relationship with the permanent
staff.  As we are heading into peak
production and sales months, flexibility is required.  Training will be provided for all functions
needed.  Market stall merchandising and
sales skills will also be part of the remit of this role.

part of a small team working alongside both Traveller women and a settled
support team,

helping bring
our bold vision to life.

Key Responsibilities

Production/Operations

•  Execute
embroidery services

•  Execute
production/operations skills as required

•  Assist in organizing and manage stock/stock take

•  Preparing, setting up and selling inventory at
Autumn/Winter Markets as agreed

•  Work collaboratively with staff to achieve
production and sales goals

•  Other duties as agreed upon by Operations Manager
and Board

•  Willingness to learn and pitch in across a variety of tasks

•  Good verbal
communication skills

•  Flexibility to occasionally attend
events or markets
